I was reading CBC this morning and was suddenly transported back to my undergrad days at Trent University…
Bonnie Patterson, former president of Trent University, has been awarded the Order of Ontario.
And why?
She “has championed the advancement of high-quality, post-secondary education in Ontario and Canada”.
Yeah. That sound you hear off in the distance? It’s me, dying of laughter.
I’ve only been away from Trent University for about 3 and a half years, but I still remember how useless she was as President. She wrecked the college system, increased corporate influences, reduced student spaces, called the cops on peaceful student protesters, had most of the faculty hating her and did it all in her special Neo-Con way with her special Neo-Con buddies on board.
I got to Trent when she had already started dismantling things, so I never really saw what Trent “was” and luckily I graduated before she made Trent what it “is”. To be quite honest, I’m not sure what Trent “is” now. I was satisfied with my B.A. Hons and got the hell out of there.
But yeah… Order of Ontario.
i hear she’s a bad tipper, too.
