Oh blog, how I’ve neglected you. I’m in the middle of holiday knitting and have been busy busy busy. Hopefully this blog will be getting a make-over soon, so watch for that in the future.
Anyhow, on Saturday night, before that big dump of snow and freezing rain, we took a drive over to Taffy Lane, in Orleans. I’m not sure what the light displays look like now, but they looked pretty decent on Saturday. Here are some pics!
This one might have been my favourite house. Definitely in the top five.
Then there was THIS guy. He went all out. His house was pretty wild. I only got one photo of his house, despite it being one of the best, and the damn photo turned out blurry (second pic up there). I wish I’d got a better photo. The guy was even wearing lights. He was nice enough to pose for a photo with A. Santa was there too, but for some reason he stepped out of the photo. I didn’t ask…
This was another nice place. There were a bunch of houses with those giant inflated lawn ornaments, and some of them even played music. I guess that’s what’s hip now, but those things aren’t really my bag. I like the lights. It brings back memories of going to (the now defunct) Cullen Gardens’ Festival of Lights in Whitby, Ontario when I was a kid.
I can’t say I’d ever do this to my house (if/when we buy one), but I certainly admire the effort these folks put into their displays. If you get a chance, take a spin up there and have a look around. Taffy Lane is just off Sugar Creek Way, which intersects with Orleans Boulevard. If you see the Orleans United Church, with their nice (& giant) roof sign, you’re pretty much there.
